When you buy a new car, it’s normal to want to customize it to your preferences. This includes programming the car to identify you and adapt to your needs. The owner’s manual will usually direct you, but this is not always the case, especially in secondhand cars that sometimes don’t come with manuals. So, if you’re in the market for a new car, these are the steps you should do first before using your car.
- Enter the car and lock the doors
- Power the car
- Find the lock button on the inner side of the car, press and hold for 10 seconds. This will activate the automatic door lock function (this means as long as the vehicle speed exceeds 20Km/hr. the doors will automatically lock up even if you did not lock the car)
- Rotate the rear view mirror (or side mirror) adjustment pointer to R, then shift the gear to reverse and adjust the mirror position to where you can see the rear tyres. The rear view mirror automatic down-turning function is now activated. This means when next you switch your gear to reverse, the rear view mirror will automatically turn down.
- Hold the window lift switch in place at your side for 5 seconds. The anti-pinch feature has been turned on. This means that if the window detects an obstacle while rising or lowering, it will instantly retract.
- Finally, using the key FOB or remote, press and hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. This means when you hit the unlock button, it will only unlock the left front door, which is the driver’s door, and no other doors will open.
If your car has a special way of setting these functions, please share it in the comments area so that others can benefit.
