Toyota Corolla has once again maintained it’s position as Toyota’s top selling sedan by winning Nigeria’s car of the year award for 2019. According to Daily Trust, the award was handed to the managing Director of Toyota Nigeria Limited (TNL), Mr. Adekunle Ade-Ojo, at this year’s Annual award organized by the Nigerian Automotive Journalists Association (NAJA).
Over the decades Toyota Corolla has been a favourite for middle-class individuals all over the world because of it’s exceptional maintenance friendly nature and fuel economy.
Also strong contenders for the award were Hyundai Tucson and GAC GS4, both of which were defeated by Corolla, which received the highest number of votes.
Aside Corolla winning car of the year, Toyota Hiace also was awarded mini bus of the year. Mandilas Motors Limited was awarded Auto Workshop of the year. Mitsubishi L200 was awarded pick-up truck of the year. Most improved brand of the year went to JAC. Land Rover Autobiography got the luxury SUV of the year. Executive car of the year went to Honda Accord. Luxury car of the year went to Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Auto assembly plant of the year went to Stallion VON and new lubricant of the year went to MOTUL.
